Common Orthodontic Emergencies
- Help! I broke a bracket or something is poking me: apply orthodontic wax and text/call us with a clear photo so we can guide you.
- Poking wire: use wax. If needed, carefully tuck the wire with a clean cotton swab. Contact us if it continues.
- Loose bracket/band: keep it in place if possible; avoid hard/sticky foods and let us know.
- Sore spots/irritation: use wax and rinse with warm salt water.
- Lost aligner: wear your previous aligner if available and contact us for next steps.
Brace Care
- Avoid hard, crunchy, or sticky foods that can break brackets/wires.
- Wear elastics exactly as instructed.
- If something feels different, text us and we’ll advise.
Hygiene
- Brush after meals and before bed (2 minutes).
- Floss daily (threader or water flosser helps with braces).
- Use fluoride toothpaste and consider a fluoride rinse at night.
